Advice for Small Cabin Life
Simple tips and lessons from life in a tiny cabin
Living small comes with its challenges, but it also sparks creativity. Here’s where we share what’s worked for us (and what hasn’t!) as we make the most of our little space.
Getting Started
When we first moved in, it felt like every wall and corner was shouting for attention. My best advice? Start small. Focus on the room you spend the most time in and make that work first. Set a realistic budget, write down the must‑haves and leave a bit of room for the “nice‑to‑haves” once you know how far your money will stretch.
Living Small (and Loving It)
Small cabins can be tricky – but they also make you creative. From storage in places you wouldn’t expect to layout tricks that make a room feel bigger, we’ve learned a lot about making a small footprint feel calm and cosy. Less stuff really does mean less stress!
DIY Tips We’ve Picked Up
You don’t need a huge workshop or expensive tools. Some of our favourite projects have been done with a paintbrush, a cordless drill and a good playlist. And if something goes wrong? Don’t panic – we’ve made plenty of mistakes (and usually learned more from those than from the easy wins).
What I’d Tell Myself at the Start
Not everything needs to be done at once. Take it one step at a time, live in the space and let it tell you what it needs. And don’t forget to celebrate the little wins along the way.
If you’d like more detail on any of these topics, you’ll find plenty of step‑by‑step posts over on the blog – and if you want to see what we’re up to day to day, come and say hello on Instagram.
